About the department

The Department of Dental Specialties sees adults and children who require specialized dental care. As a resident or fellow in one of our programs, you’ll train alongside faculty members with expertise in dental hygiene, dental sleep medicine, maxillofacial prosthetics, dental oncology, orofacial pain treatment, care of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics, periodontics, and prosthodontics.

About the programs

Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education offers several residencies and a fellowship in several specialty dental areas. Unique aspects of the programs include:

  • Oral Health Grand Rounds: hosted by the Department of Dental Specialties and includes one-hour, Zoom-based, free continuing education for dental professionals and students.
  • Oral Health Fellows Association: trainee-led group comprised of all learners in the dental specialties programs and is focused on enhancing clinical practice, education and scholarship, and professional and personal development.

Candidates may apply to only one program at a time.
