From the Program Director

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Mayo Clinic Health System — Eau Claire.

Our program provides you with an opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and skills in a variety of clinical practice areas within a fully integrated health system. Mayo Clinic is at the forefront of research, education, and clinical practice, enabling you to participate in the care of patients using the most current evidence-based standards of care.

The residency program has a highly qualified group of preceptors to assist you in becoming a skilled clinical pharmacist. Over the course of the PGY-1 year, your knowledge base and pharmacotherapeutic skills will mature and be refined through participation in interdisciplinary patient care rounds, daily review of patients, topic discussions with your preceptors, and small- and large-group presentations to a variety of health care practitioners.

Our program is directed at providing a broad, yet intensive approach to all aspects of patient care that will ensure that you complete your residency with a solid foundation of acute care, ambulatory care and transitions between care settings.

We are fortunate to have trained many high-caliber residents, the majority of whom have stayed on as part of our excellent team.

Department of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy at Mayo Clinic Health System — Eau Claire employs over 200 individuals in the Northwest Wisconsin Region, including approximately 60 pharmacists, to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services.

Dedicated preceptors

As a resident, you have direct access to skilled and dedicated preceptors and mentors to optimize your learning experience. All preceptors meet qualifications outlined by ASHP, and many are certified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.
