PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Ambulatory Care at Mayo Clinic

Director's Welcome

Jan Anderson, Pharm.D., R.Ph.

Mayo Clinic's primary value, "The needs of the patient come first," is what I love about Mayo Clinic. Everyone at Mayo Clinic supports the mission by using the three Mayo Clinic shields of education, research, and patient care to do what is best for the patient.

As a resident in the PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Ambulatory Care at Mayo Clinic, you will develop skills in meeting with patients to review their medications for indication, safety, effectiveness, interactions, and adherence. You will apply these skills across a variety of practices, tailored to meet your interests.

Our goal is to help you be a knowledgeable clinical pharmacist who provides the best individualized care for your patients. You will have a diverse experience that will prepare you for a variety of professional pathways, including clinical practice, management, research, teaching, or a combination of these.

The care we provide is evidenced by U.S. News & World Report consistently ranking Mayo Clinic as one of the top hospitals in the nation. Additionally, the Mayo Clinic Department of Pharmacy recently integrated across the Midwest, further increasing the ability to provide patients with high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care.

Our institution has tremendous resources to optimize your learning experience, including a wealth of knowledge from exceptional preceptors and the health care team! These individuals, using an interdisciplinary team approach that emphasizes quality and value in patient care, will prepare you for the future of ambulatory care pharmacy!

Best wishes,

Jan Anderson, Pharm.D., R.Ph.
