Diana J. Schreier, Pharm.D., R.Ph.Why I chose Mayo Clinic for residency training

There are innumerable reasons why I chose to pursue the PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency at Mayo Clinic, but what stood out the most is the strong commitment that Mayo Clinic has to providing optimal patient care.

When I first came to Mayo Clinic as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience student, I was floored by the interprofessional participation and mutual respect demonstrated by the healthcare team. This commitment was further demonstrated to me as I completed my PGY-1 pharmacy residency. Every day I had the opportunity to collaborate with world renowned practitioners to do what Mayo Clinic does best: put the needs of the patient first.

When I was searching for PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics residencies, Mayo Clinic continued to stand out to me. In this program I am able to maintain my patient-centered focus by striving to continuously improve the medication-use process. The flexible structure of the rotations allows me to lead projects that make a significant impact on clinical practice and patient care. I am proud to know that joining the informatics team at Mayo Clinic means that I have a role in moving healthcare forward through design and implementation of an electronic health record that allows clinicians to provide top of the line patient care in an accurate, safe and effective way.

I am confident that my training at Mayo Clinic will allow me to become a skilled informatics pharmacist ready to take on projects with enthusiasm and ingenuity.
