What attracted you to gastroenterology?

The combination of medical knowledge, motor-perceptual aptitude and the variety of endoscopic procedures inspired me to pursue a career in gastroenterology. I enjoy the diversity and complexity that gastroenterology offers. This trait combined with the opportunity to perform a vast array of powerful diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients, made gastroenterology the irresistible specialty for me.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training?

The gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo clinic is outstanding. My decision to come to mayo clinic was driven by the remarkable mentorship. Regardless what your interest in gastroenterology is, there are world leader in the field at Mayo clinic. I was also highly impressed by the multidisciplinary team approach between all specialties which focuses on serving the patients.

What makes the Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology Fellowship unique?

The combination of superb mentorship, diverse patient’s exposure, innovative techniques and research opportunities make the Mayo clinic gastroenterology fellowship extremely unique. Above all, the friendly and collaborative work environment makes this fellowship the best. The support I receive from everyone including house staff and consultants is exceptional.

Anything surprise you about Mayo's program?

I was surprised with the dedication everyone at Mayo has toward serving our patients. The team at Mayo Clinic is devoted to provide patients with all the support they need emotional and medically.

What is living in Rochester like for you?

Me, my wife and 3 year old daughter have been enjoying living in Rochester. It is a very diverse city with people from all backgrounds. The trait of Minnesota is the kindness of the people. We enjoy the outdoor activities in the summer like hiking and biking. My daughter especially enjoy spending time at the library and children’s museum.

What does your future look like right now?

I currently look to advance my career as an expert in endoscopic management in esophageal cancer. I plan to spend an extra year learning advance endoscopic techniques. I plan to use my skills as a gastroenterologist and as a clinical researcher to understand and define the roles of the rising technologies in managing esophageal cancer.
