The one-year Blood and Marrow Transplant Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, is designed for physicians who have completed an accredited Hematology fellowship. The fellowship offers:

• Preparation for a successful career in blood and marrow transplantation in a group practice or academic center
• In-depth exposure to multidisciplinary approaches to hematologic diseases from the blood and marrow transplantation perspective
• Exciting research opportunities in the field of blood and marrow transplantation

As a Mayo Clinic Blood and Marrow Transplant fellow, you have access to clinical training in the inpatient and outpatient setting and exposure to a variety of hematologic malignancies, including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemias, amyloidosis, and myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative disorders. Many staff hematologists serve as faculty, offering a rich diversity of clinical expertise.

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Fellowship includes laboratory experience in histocompatibility testing, cryopreservation, purging, stem cell harvesting, cell manipulation, and dendritic cell therapy. You train in inpatient and outpatient settings at Mayo Clinic's blood and marrow transplant (BMT) unit. The Bone Marrow Transplant Program is a part of the Mayo Clinic William J. von Liebig Center for Transplantation and Clinical Regeneration.

Mayo Clinic performs a large number of blood, marrow, and peripheral blood stem cell transplants, both autologous and allogeneic, for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Mayo Clinic also performs nonmyeloablative and haploidentical stem cell transplantations. Our facilities include a good manufacturing practices (GMP)-approved cell processing center and a National Institutes of Health-sponsored Clinical Research Unit.

Mayo Clinic's Bone Marrow Transplant Program has been recognized as an approved transplant center within the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group since 1988 and within the Children's Oncology Group since 1990. In 1995, the National Marrow Donor Program accredited Mayo's Bone Marrow Transplant Program to perform unrelated donor transplants. In addition, the program is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy.

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, began in 2000. We anticipate that two trainees will complete this program annually.
