Overview

Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences offers a unique opportunity for clinicians to pursue research training through the Clinician-Scientist Academic Research Excellence (CARE) Ph.D. Program. This program is designed for clinicians currently engaged in residency, fellowship, or other roles within Mayo Clinic who are passionate about delving deeper into the field of biomedical science research.

  • Accelerated timeline: With your M.D. background, you'll be able to fast-track your journey to a Ph.D. without sacrificing the quality and depth of your research.
  • Rigorous curriculum: Our program maintains the rigorous standards expected of a traditional Ph.D., ensuring that you receive a robust academic experience while being able to focus on advanced coursework. Credits from your M.D. studies will be substituted for core coursework reducing your overall course burden.

  • Modern facilities: Access state-of-the-art laboratories, cutting-edge technologies, and a wealth of resources at Mayo Clinic, empowering you to conduct innovative and impactful research.
  • Funding support: CARE Ph.D. learners are funded by their primary department, program, or development funds, relieving financial burdens and allowing you to focus wholeheartedly on your research pursuits.

The program will equip graduates with the multidisciplinary expertise needed to tackle complex challenges across various domains of biomedical sciences.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be poised to make impactful contributions to scientific advancement and patient care, whether as researchers, clinicians, educators, or future faculty members at Mayo Clinic or other esteemed academic medical institutions.
