The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Radiology Technology Internship in Jacksonville, Florida, is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of postgraduate radiography students and practicing radiographers. The program provides structured didactic and clinical training to ensure readiness for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI certification exam. The curriculum reflects significant clinical experience, individualized didactics, and access to experienced faculty.

Graduation and certification
Learners who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the ARRT magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) registry, which provides graduates with nationally recognized credentials to practice magnetic resonance imaging radiology. Individual states may have other requirements.
Admissions requirements
The program name admits four trainees each year (two cohorts of two) on a competitive basis.
Prerequisites
- Must be a registered technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- The ideal candidate is a new or experienced technologist interested in a career in magnetic resonance imaging.
Candidates are selected based on grades and work experience, as well as volunteer experience, leadership qualities, and representation of personal qualities and skills.

Admission to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences is open to U.S. workers in the four categories below. Therefore, visa sponsorship is not available.

Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT). Educational transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be translated (if they are not already in English) and evaluated for U.S. equivalence by an accredited credential evaluation service company prior to submission. Please refer to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services for a list of qualified companies. The applicant pays for the examination and credential-evaluation services.

- Visit the ARRT Verify Credentials website and enter your name into the Search Online Directory tool. You will be able to view results and save a PDF copy of the verification to upload.
- One professional recommendation is required and must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. The recommender will receive an email with a link to complete a rating form and recommendation.
- Unofficial college transcripts, including credits and grades from your most recent quarter or semester, may be uploaded in the Supplemental Items area for application purposes. High school transcripts are not required.
Note: Incomplete applications, or applications postmarked electronically submitted outside of the application time frame, may not be processed. Program information and application materials are updated each year and therefore are not valid for subsequent applications.
If accepted, official transcripts will need to be emailed or mailed directly to the program.
Interview process
Applicants considered for an acceptance will be invited to Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.

Appointment letters will be sent via email or mail. If accepted, your reply is expected within two weeks.
Tuition and financial aid
Stipend
Interns will receive a bi-weekly stipend of $2,022.54. Our weeks are from Wednesday to Tuesday over the course of the program. There are no tuition fees.

Living expenses
Living expenses such as transportation, housing, and meals are the responsibility of the student.

Clinical and didactic experiences
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Internship is designed to offer a formalized pathway for individuals pursuing a career in magnetic resonance imaging. Through hands-on training, personalized mentorship, and academic support, interns will be immersed in a comprehensive learning experience that emphasizes MRI safety, imaging protocols, and equipment operations.

- Train alongside experienced MRI technologists and radiologists
- Gain real-world insights and technical skills essential for success in the professional field.
- Have ample opportunities to complete the MRI procedure requirements needed to be eligible for the registry exam.
Clinical training and rotations
Clinical experience is the primary component of the training program and fulfills ARRT clinical requirements needed for MRI board. Clinical rotations are scheduled in several areas at Mayo Clinic, Mayo Clinic Hospital, Mangurian Building, and Duan Family Building. No off-site rotations are required.
Didactic coursework
The didactic experience exceeds the structured education requirements by ARRT. Thirty didactic hours can be completed online via the Clover Learning curriculum.
