Curriculum
- NMT 1804 (Clinical Education I): Mayo Clinic will introduce students to the hospital environment, equipment, basic patient care expectations, and professionalism.
- NMT 1814 (Clinical Education II): the experience will include continued clinical experiences allowing them to complete required competencies. Studies performed at Mayo Clinic in Florida provides a well-rounded variety of all required and elective studies students will need to complete their program. This site also has a diverse patient base, giving students opportunities to work with both inpatients and outpatients during their rotation.
- NMT 1824 (Clinical Education III): Experiences will include immediate feedback from technologists reinforcing good technique and correcting mistakes as they go to make the transition from assisted performance to independent performance more seamless. Technologists will shift from direct supervision to a more hands-off approach, to allow students to perform studies on their own.
- NMT 1834 (Clinical Education IV): Mayo Clinic will provide this experience by allowing students to rotate through PET department during downtime. The department has a total of 4 PET/CT scanners: GE Omni, GE 810, Siemens Vision and Siemens Quadra, and one PET/MR unit. This will give students a sufficient introduction to PET/CT and PET/MR. Students will also be able to rotate through our outpatient clinic and hospital to satisfy patient diversity training requirements.
- NMT 2844 (Clinical Education V): Mayo Clinic in Florida will open PET/CT department to allow for individual PET/CT rotations through all scanners. Students will also have the opportunity to rotate through PET/MR. MCF PET department performs standard FDG, Ga68 PSMA, and DOTATATE studies as well as F18 FES, N13 cardiac rest/stress and sarcoid studies, C11 Pib/F18 TAU, giving students ample opportunity to familiarize themselves and gain competency in PET. In SPECT/CT, students will continue to perform scans. Techs will now be supervising students indirectly, allowing students to perform as if they were a technologist. Offer feedback and answer questions as needed.
