Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences offers a postgraduate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
This 12-month fellowship provides a structured training program designed to prepare advanced practice providers for independent high-level clinical practice in one of the most highly specialized and rapidly evolving fields of medicine.
Program highlights
The Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Fellowship is a comprehensive, year-long post-graduate training program that combines didactic education, mentored clinical experience, and scholarly activity. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in BMT while developing critical clinical judgment and skills required to care for highly complex patients.
The fellowship aims to prepare learners to:
- Understand core principles of BMT, including basic hematology, hematologic malignancies, transplant indications, stem cell mobilization and harvest, conditioning regimens, disease monitoring, and post-transplant complications
- Apply disease-specific knowledge to patients seen in BMT, and malignant hematology
- Develop advanced clinical skills including comprehensive history taking, physical examination, diagnostic reasoning, and critical thinking necessary for high-quality BMT care, in addition to the diagnosis and management of graft versus host disease
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient-centered care across inpatient, and outpatient transplant settings
- Cultivate lifelong learning skills, enabling graduates to independently maintain and advance their clinical knowledge throughout their BMT career.
Graduation and certification
Upon successful completion of the program, fellows will receive a certificate from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences documenting completion of the 12-month postgraduate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant BMT Fellowship.
This certificate verifies that the fellow has completed all required components outlined in the curriculum and achieved the program’s defined competencies in advanced BMT clinical practice.
