Overview

Cardiology programs at Mayo Clinic in Arizona accept applications for an elective rotation by residents and fellows outside of Mayo Clinic year-round.

The department offers a range of opportunities throughout multiple divisions of the field of cardiology. At least two weeks will be spent on the Cardiovascular Diseases-Inpatient Service, with an additional two weeks spent on the Cardiovascular Diseases-Inpatient Service, Congestive Heart Failure-Inpatient Service, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Eligibility

  • Must be a PGY-2 or higher resident/fellow to rotate with one of the cardiology elective options.
  • Cardiology rotations are four weeks in length.
  • Requires a six-month lead time to process required paperwork for all requests.

  • Completion of Universal
  • Application approval from the home program
  • ACLS and BLS
    • Applicant submits PDF copy of both documents
    • ACLS is the acronym for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
    • BLS is the acronym for Basic Life Support
  • Current VISA (if applicable)
  • ECFMG
    • Applicant submits a PDF copy of the document
    • Acronym for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
  • Medical School Diploma

  • Immunization records

How to apply

  • Check with the home program to decide on available dates before contacting Mayo Clinic.
  • Contact the Program Coordinator for the cardiology elective desired to rotate with to check for the requested date availability. If you have questions, send an email.
  • Once approved for rotation, work on submitting the required application and documentation.
