Application Process

Positions

There are three positions available each year on a competitive basis in the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants for the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship must have completed a general surgery residency at an accredited institution.

How to apply

You must apply through the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) Online Match System.

  1. To learn more about the program and how to apply, visit the SSO Online Match System website. Note the timeline for applications and the list of application materials required by the SSO.
  2. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Mayo Clinic for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty. 
  3. If you are matched with the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship, you must send additional documents to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education:

    • Diplomas. Provide a copy of your graduate school diploma, medical school diploma or both (if applicable).
    • Official transcripts. Send official transcripts from each university, graduate school or medical school you attended. Provide certified or notarized English translations of documents written in a language other than English.
    • Dean's letter. Ask your medical school dean to send a letter directly to:
