Department and Faculty

The Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in Florida has over 30 cardiologists and 14 advanced practice providers who take part in a variety of subspecialty service lines, including ischemic, structural, heart rhythm, advanced heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, sports cardiology, and cardio-oncology. It also has state-of-the-art echocardiography, catheterization, and electrophysiology laboratories.

Each year, our vibrant echo lab performs:

  • Over 25,000 echocardiograms per year
  • Approximately 1,000 transesophageal echocardiograms
  • 2,500 stress echocardiograms

You can expect a wide breadth of experience in advanced imaging for a variety of cardiovascular disease states. You will also receive hands-on experience in our structural cardiology laboratory, which performs well over 200 structural cases annually, including transcatheter aortic, mitral, and pulmonary valve replacement, transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of the mitral valve and tricuspid valves, left atrial appendage closure, periprosthetic leak closure, and alcohol septal ablation. Additional elective training in nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular computed tomography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is also available.

This program continues to follow the original Mayo Clinic vision to maintain a unique patient-centered and highly integrated practice, incorporating new techniques and state-of-the-art approaches. We're excited to offer an ideal environment for your clinical, procedural, and academic training. Education is central to Mayo Clinic’s mission and the three shields – clinical practice, education, and research.

Facilities

Our facilities boast the newest technology in cardiac imaging. We use Echocardiogram, CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanners from various vendors and access to the newest PET-CT (positron emission tomography CT) (positron emission tomography CT) and PET-MRI technology. We perform structural echocardiographic imaging in modern catheterization laboratories with ultramodern facilities in collaboration with our Interventional cardiologists.
