Department and Faculty

More than 150 physicians make up the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Cardiologists provide the best possible care to patients with disorders of the heart, arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels in a highly integrated and cooperative group practice. Members of the department care for approximately 59,000 patients annually.

Facilities

Supported by many laboratories, subspecialty clinics, preventive health programs, basic and clinical research programs, and continuing education programs, cardiologists offer patients the latest in new diagnostic techniques, drugs and interventions.

Faculty

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields.

You have direct access to the cardiovascular medicine faculty at Mayo Clinic throughout your training in the Preventive Cardiology Fellowship.

Advisers and mentors

You are assigned a dedicated faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Trainees meet with their advisers periodically throughout the fellowship to review their progress and career goals, and ensure that their educational needs are being met. Your adviser also serves as a contact point for introducing you and your family to Rochester, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these educational opportunities.
