Programs Offered
Both the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and the Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway offer the following rotations:
- Hospital Service
- Two months per year.
- You supervise the team of residents, interns, medical students, nurse practitioners, and visiting house staff with different attendings each week.
- CHF/Transplant Service
- One month per year
- Along with a nurse practitioner, you will supervise the service (with supervision by CHF attending staff).
- Echocardiography
- Minimum two months per year (if level II echocardiography is required).
- During your first year of training, the first two months are in the clinical outpatient setting. Thereafter, this rotation will be in the hospital setting, in which transesophageal echocardiography and dobutamine echocardiography is also performed.
- Electrophysiology
- Minimum two months.
- Includes inpatient and outpatient consultation, invasive electrophysiology, defibrillator, and permanent pacemaker insertions.
- Cardiac Catheterization
- Minimum four months.
- You train in state-of-the-art labs with experienced interventional cardiologists.
- Nuclear Cardiology
- Minimum two months.
- During this rotation, you will interpret a large volume of stress tests.
- Outpatient Continuity Clinic
- One half-day per week
- EKG
- Minimum exposure will be 3,500 EKGs over three years.
- Electives
- Opportunities are available at other Mayo Clinic campuses as well as in the local Phoenix area.
