The Division of  Metabolic and Abdominal Wall Reconstructive Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., has one of the most experienced groups of gastroenterologic and abdominal wall surgeons in the United States. Our surgeons provide comprehensive diagnosis, management and follow-up of surgical disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal wall hernias, as well as obesity and its allied disorders.

The staff surgeons perform a high number of complex operations annually and have tremendous experience in treating complicated pathology. Our GI Surgery group has led the country as the Number 1 Group in Gastroenterology (and GI Surgery) in "US World and News Report" for several years.

Advisers

You will be assigned a faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. The adviser also serves as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Mayo Clinic.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors and other visiting surgeons visit Mayo Clinic each year to present their work during morning and afternoon lectures and interact with the Mayo staff in the operating room. Residents and fellows are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities to interact with experts from other academic centers and are relieved from clinical assignments to do so.
