2023-2024 fellow

“This fellowship is unique in the flexibility of the training and the ability to learn from all manners of techniques. There are opportunities to rotate with robotics, complex stones, HoLEP, focal oncologic therapy, and much more. The mentorship model allows fellows to build trust with the faculty, and thus develop excellent autonomy while still under appropriate supervision. Furthermore, faculty of this fellowship are very supportive. Whether it is direct questions about patient care, research, or quality improvement projects, advising on career development or life in general, the faculty respond quickly and provide guidance in a reasonable direction. It is easily noticeable that the faculty enjoy being a part of Mayo Urology, and there is a real appreciation they have for the work that fellows do.”

Current:  Essex Hudson Urology, Bloomfield, New Jersey

2021-2022 fellow

“The structure of being one-on-one with a consultant means that the fellow gets a full view of patient care; I got the full breadth of working with a patient from initial consultation to surgery to postoperative care and future management. You don't always get such a longitudinal experience with the more traditional setup residency, so this fellowship was a great addition to my training. Mayo has the full complement of attendings who are specialized in their fields, so you learn from the top in the field.”

"There are many different programs to choose from in the Endourology match and the program at Mayo Clinic was exactly what I was looking for. During the one year clinical program I was exposed to robotic and laparoscopic surgery, complex stone surgery, minimally invasive BPH procedures, and more. I was also looking for a program where I would still be able to focus on research while staying clinically active throughout the year. I had previously spent some time there as a medical student and had very fond memories of the friendliness and accessibility of the staff. I was reminded of this as soon as I returned for the fellowship interviews and was convinced that I wanted to continue my training here."

Current: Toronto East General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

2018-2019 fellow

"At the end of my residency, I was interested in two subspecialties — stone/BPH surgery and minimally-invasive surgery. The Endourology and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Fellowship at Mayo Clinic is a combined program where you get exposed to stone surgery, BPH surgery, and minimally-invasive surgery. It is a high-volume one-year program. It’s marginally equivalent to a two-year fellowship program in other institutions."

Current: Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Montreal and a consultant endourologist at CIUSSS Nord-de-l’ile de Montreal
