Department and Faculty

The Mayo Clinic Section of Neuro-Oncology has six specialists who evaluate and treat patients with primary and secondary tumors of the brain, meninges and spine, and neurologic complications of systemic cancer. Five specialists are located in Rochester and one at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla.

Research activities are conducted at all three sites. The Neuro-Oncology group works closely with the Department of Neurologic Surgery, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology and is actively involved in treatment protocols as a member of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG).

An active Neuro-Oncology Program is comprised of more than 40 faculty from ten departments, including the Department of Neurology.

Advisers

You will be assigned a faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. The adviser also serves as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Mayo Clinic and the communities in which you will train.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during morning and late afternoon lectures. Residents and fellows are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities to interact with experts from other academic centers and are relieved from clinical assignments to do so.
