Radiologists and staff at Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, provide the highest quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services in a caring and efficient manner, while sustaining outstanding programs in research and education.
The Department of Radiology is fully integrated with all the medical services available at Mayo Clinic. More than 60 radiologists and five physicists collaborate with hundreds of support staff to provide diagnostic and therapeutic radiology services to our patients.
Experts in all areas of radiology consult with specialists in other departments to provide the best care to every patient every day, consistent with Mayo's mission. Radiologists work with state-of-the-art equipment, assisted by skilled technologists and nurses, to perform and interpret more than 325,000 examinations yearly. This large number of cases, integrated with ongoing research and education, results in wide-ranging expertise in the imaging and treatment of diseases affecting patients of all ages.
In addition to the faculty on the Florida campus, we have experts in all areas of radiology across the Mayo Clinic Enterprise, who consult with specialists in other departments to provide the best care to every patient every day. Radiologists work with state-of-the-art equipment, assisted by skilled technologists and nurses. Our large number of cases, integrated with ongoing research and education, results in wide-ranging expertise in the imaging and treatment of diseases affecting patients of all ages.
Facilities
The radiology department's equipment includes:
- 11 clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, including 8 3-tesla magnets and an intra-operative MRI (iMRI) suite
- 5 clinical computerized tomography (CT) scanners, including 2 dual source scanners
- 25 ultrasound machines
- 5 interventional suites
The nuclear radiology practice infrastructure includes:
- 6 nuclear medicine gamma cameras
- 3 positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) scanners
- 1 PET/MRI scanner
- 1 on-site cyclotron

We welcome your interest in the Nuclear Radiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Jacksonville, Florida! We are proud to offer a unique and comprehensive one year fellowship in nuclear radiology starting in July 2022. Our program offers the right candidate the ability to take full advantage of the state-of-the-art nuclear medicine infrastructure at a regional and nationally recognized institution. The aim of our one-year fellowship is to provide a solid experience in diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear radiology/molecular imaging to prepare you for a career in academic or private setting.
The radiology department at Mayo Clinic in Florida strongly supports the Mayo institutional three-shield model of patient care, education, and research. Our fellowship program follows in the footsteps of a well-established diagnostic radiology program and several radiology subspeciality fellowships. We offer a 5:1 NM faculty to fellow ratio, with diverse background and experience across the breadth of nuclear radiology. Additionally, there is substantial additional support in radiology, physics, and radiochemistry, well-suited to support all your education needs.

Faculty
In addition to caring for patients in clinical practice, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are recognized leaders in their fields. Our faculty members follow the Mayo Clinic three-shield model and are dedicated to education and research in addition to clinical care. The fellow will work closely with these individuals throughout your training in the Nuclear Radiology Fellowship.
Advisers and mentors
Faculty advisers are assigned to provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. The fellow will meet with their adviser regularly throughout the program to review progress and career goals and ensure that the educational needs are being met. In addition the adviser can help serve as a liaison for any professional and family needs with regard to the city of Jacksonville and the Mayo Clinic system.
Visiting professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures, participate in hospital rounds, and have informal discussions with trainees. The trainees are encouraged to take full advantage of these educational opportunities.
