Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic in Arizona?

"I really admire the high-quality character of the individuals in the ENT department at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. The small program size, mentorship model, and one major hospital practice site helps create a cohesive group between the residents and attendings. The Mayo Clinic system has practically unlimited resources to help you tailor your education to individual interests and passions. The department has grown a lot over the past few years and each addition has further enhanced resident education.

Why did you choose to train Mayo Clinic in Arizona?

"The apprenticeship model of being paired with 1-2 staff over a 3-month period, as well as the chief year being very customizable, both lend themselves to a very individualized and personal training experience. Why did you choose to train Mayo Clinic in Arizona?

"The thing that set Mayo Clinic apart from any other program I interviewed at was how much raw talent and resources I encountered here. The Otolaryngology Residency at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, is the only ENT residency in a city of 1.7 million people and has a reputation that brings patients to our campus from all over the US and the world (meaning that our exposure to both routine and tertiary-level ENT issues is unparalleled). The department is close-knit enough that it feels like a family, but it is big enough to provide a broad exposure to all ENT specialties while providing the most up-to-date care supported by the resources of Mayo Clinic. Lastly, Arizona lends itself to year-round outdoor activities with comfortable and affordable living."

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic in Arizona?

"It was clear to me that the focus of the program was on training phenomenal surgeons and that there was a true plan to accomplish this starting day 1. The mentorship model was essentially five years of "mini fellowships" spent one-on-one with world-class subspecialists. That really resonated with me. The opportunity to get very "personal" training yet still have the highest complexity cases and best surgeons/teachers was a big draw for me. Also, after growing up in Florida and then spending about 10 years in the Midwest, I was ready for blue skies and sunshine again!

The residency has been the best experience I could have hoped for."
