The Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic's campus in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, focuses on providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases in a setting of active clinical research and education. Our physicians see thousands of people with rheumatic diseases each year.
Rheumatic diseases seen include a vast number of arthritis conditions such as crystalline arthritis, spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, among others; collagen vascular disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, and mixed connective tissue diseases; vasculitis disorders, such as giant cell arteritis, Takayasu's arteritis, and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)-associated vasculitis; and polymyositis and dermatomyositis.
Rare rheumatic diseases are encountered as well, such as relapsing polychondritis, retroperitoneal fibrosis, and autoinflammatory diseases.
The rheumatology division includes an established systemic sclerosis clinic, ultrasound clinic, and evolving vasculitis clinic providing an enriched clinical experience for training in these subspecialty areas.
