In addition to patient care, faculty members at Mayo Clinic are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are well-regarded in their fields. You have direct access to these individuals during your training program.

Throughout the Transitional Year Residency, you train with Mayo Clinic specialists in general surgery, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and cardiovascular diseases. Depending on program electives, you will have the opportunity to train with additional specialists.

Advisers and mentors

Our graduate education advisory system is designed to provide each resident with comprehensive educational advice and personal support. The program director is your adviser, serving as a contact point and introducing you to the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work at clinical lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
