Curriculum
The Women's Health Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, is a flexible program that can meet your individual career goals.
Clinical training
You will have a continuity clinic in Women's Health and will be able to work side by side with our women's health specialists. You will have the opportunity to maintain your primary care skills while gaining expertise in women's health.
As a Women's Health fellow, you can participate in clinical rotations under the supervision of expert faculty across multiple disciplines relevant to women's health.
The curriculum includes formal lectures, M&M conferences, journal club, bedside teaching, women's health grand rounds, breast health meetings, cancer center grand rounds, and internal medicine grand rounds.
There are three academic tracks to choose from:
- Clinical Research
- Medical Education Scholarship
- Quality Improvement
Each academic track is designed to have appropriate coursework and mentorship to provide training, projects, and practical experience to jumpstart an academic career in General Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

Current fellow
Clinical research track
As a Women's Health fellow in the clinical research track, you will participate in the Postdoctoral Master's Degree Program through Mayo Clinic's Center for Clinical and Translational Science and will develop a scholarly research project. You will benefit from our rich research tradition through close mentorship and support from our many research centers, such as the Women's Health Research Center or the Center for Science of Healthcare Delivery. After completing the program, you can receive either a certificate or a master's degree in clinical research.
Medical education scholarship track
As a Women's Health fellow in the medical education scholarship track, you will participate in a master's degree program and develop a scholarly research project. You will benefit from close mentorship from experts in medical education scholarship.
Quality improvement track
As a Women's Health fellow in the quality improvement track, you will participate in coursework and projects in the Mayo Clinic Quality Academy.
