Meet The Faculty
As a fellow in the Women's Health Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, you will have the opportunity to train with the 10-member Women's Health group who provide primary care services to women only, along with women's health consultative clinics which includes menopause, sexual health, headaches and hormones, contraceptive counseling, PCOS, integrative medicine, breast health services, and weight management.
From the program director
Our goal is to train you to achieve excellence in clinical practice, education, and research with expertise in the area of women's health. The program teaches you to become physician scholars and practice in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner by fostering critical thinking, lifelong learning, procedural, and technical skills.
You'll gain experience and training by rotating through all our subspecialty areas including gynecology, endocrinology, breast imaging, breast oncology, urology, dermatology, pelvic floor PT, women's health cardiology, and other elective rotations.

In addition to caring for patients in clinical practice, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields.

Suneela Vegunta, M.D.Program Director
READMORE Dr. Vegunta is a board-certified internist with many years of experience in women's health. She completed her residency at the Ohio State University and worked for several years as a faculty member. She later worked at the Kansas University Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kansas, and the University of Illinois, in Peoria, Illinois. She also served as the Medical Director for a federally qualified health center and as an Associate Chief of Staff for community outpatient clinics in Peoria, Illinois. She has been working at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, for the past 13 years. In addition to being the program director of the Women's Health Fellowship, she also teaches at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and is the course director for advanced doctoring. |
Jewel Kling, M.D., M.P.H.Professor of Medicine
READMORE Dr. Kling completed medical school and a master's in Public Health at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, followed by her Internal Medicine Residency and a Chief Internal Medicine Fellowship year at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a North American Menopause Society (NAMS)-certified menopause practitioner, a fellow and board member of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH), and a board member of the American Medical Women's Association Sex and Gender Health Collaborative. In addition to being a core faculty member in the Women's Health Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, she is active with the Internal Medicine Residency and Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, as well as efforts to expand the discipline of sex and gender-specific medicine. She is also a part of the transgender steering committee and previously served as the co-chair of the LGBTI Mayo Employee Resource Group (MERG). |
Mina Al-Badri, M.B., Ch.B., M.D.Assistant Professor of Medicine
READMORE Dr. Al-Badri is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Women's Health Center at Mayo Clinic's campus in Scottsdale, Arizona. She completed medical school at the College of Medicine / University of Baghdad and her Internal Medicine Residency at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center/Creighton University School of Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Al-Badri's clinical and research interests are in menopause and sexual health experiences in complex patient populations like transplant women. In addition, she has a focus on expanding the knowledge of the concept of sex and gender differences in medicine. She is a North American Menopause Society (NAMS)-certified practitioner. In addition to being a core faculty member in the Women's Health Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, she is actively involved with the Internal Medicine Residency and Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. |
Denise Millstine, M.D.Assistant Professor of Medicine
READMORE Dr. Denise Millstine is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She is the director of Integrative Medicine in the Department of General Internal Medicine in Arizona. She also leads the Student Community Clinic with Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Dr. Millstine works with Mayo Clinic Press by contributing to the Mayo Clinic Health Letter, directing a Women's Health Blog (Health Letter+), as well as being the creator and host of Mayo Clinic's Read.Talk.Grow podcast . |
Talia Sobel, M.D.Physician
READMORE Dr. Sobel is a women's health internist specializing in sexual health and menopause. She is a North American Menopause Society-certified menopause specialist. She is originally from Washington, D.C., and recently moved to Arizona from Baltimore, where she completed a Women's Health Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Sobel's clinical interests include menopause and sexual health. She enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, hiking, knitting, and exploring the beautiful Southwest. |
Jessica Fraker, M.D.Physician
READMORE Dr. Fraker completed her medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2016, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2019. She continued after residency as an internal medicine faculty in primary care at Banner University until Spring 2022 when she joined Mayo Clinic. Since that time, she has been practicing in the breast clinic at Mayo Clinic's campus in Phoenix, Arizona, and she sees patients for diagnostic breast concerns, as well as high-risk management. Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies, gardening, baking, and hanging out with her three cats. |
Paru David, M.D.Consultant
READMORE A board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. David completed her M.D. degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and joined the Women’s Health Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in 1999. She is currently a Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner. Dr. David provides consultative care for women's health issues including menopause, sexual health, contraception, as well as hormones, and headaches. She is also involved in education and is the Director of the Foundations of Reasoning and Application in Medicine and Science at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. |
