PXL Crop and Resize
Most images are set up to use Terminalfour's CDN/PXL feature. The PXL service takes care of resizing and cropping for you. This allows you to upload a full-size version of an image and have it automatically optimised for different screen sizes and placements.
How it works
When an image is added to content, the PXL service automatically generates cropped and resized versions based on the content layout's configuration. You only need to upload one high-quality image — PXL handles the rest.
Recommended image sizes
To get the best results, upload images that are at least as large as the largest expected output size. Uploading smaller images may result in pixelation or poor quality at larger breakpoints.
As a general rule:
- Hero and banner images: at least 1920×1080 px
- Card and thumbnail images: at least 800×600 px
- Profile photos: at least 400×400 px (square crop)
Cropping behaviour
PXL crops from the centre of the image by default. If the subject of an image is not centred, the crop may cut off important parts. In these cases, consider composing the image with the subject centred, or use a focal point if supported by the content layout.
