Photoshoots

Examples of good photography choices for the web

Programs can opt to do a professional photoshoot through Media Support Services (they’ll consult with you about availability, if there are costs, scheduling, etc.).

Photoshoots are a way for programs to receive the professional-quality images recommended for programs' external websites.

Candid photos

These images document programs actively engaged in learning, training, collaborating, and consulting in various settings at Mayo Clinic. User research shows prospective trainees are very interested in seeing examples of what programs do during training represented in a program's website photography.

Candid photos are placed on the Overview page (at the top of the page) or in a few other select locations throughout a program's website.

Environmental portraits

These images are staged portraits taken in a variety of spaces and are different from the traditional portraits in Mayo Clinic's Quarterly.

There are two types of environmental portraits — individual and group.

  • Individual portraits are similar to the traditional Quarterly portrait, however, instead of the gray studio background, these environmental portraits are taken in a variety of spaces around Mayo Clinic. Though seldom used on the college.mayo.edu website, individual environmental portraits can be used to highlight program directors on a program's external website.
  • Group portraits usually include a program's core faculty. Environmental group portraits are seldom used on the college.mayo.edu website.

When you have selected the photos and are ready to submit them for website use, provide the file name in your external web request so that our team can locate and download the photos from MAM.
