Application Process

Positions

The Heart Rhythm Device Nurse Fellowship admits one trainee each year on a competitive basis. The fellowship is open to Mayo Clinic employees and external candidates.

Admission requirements

Prerequisites

To be eligible for the Heart Rhythm Device Clinic Nurse Fellowship, you must have:

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Be a licensed registered professional nurse.
  • Have a minimum of three years of current clinical registered nurse experience with expertise in the field of cardiovascular nursing. Relevant experience is often obtained in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit, and in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology labs.
  • Be eligible to obtain licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Arizona.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong ECG skills, a desire to learn advanced cardiac rhythm analysis, and will be comfortable with technology in a workplace with a continuous learning cycle.
  • This position will require you to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of advances in your field.

Candidates are selected based on work experience, leadership qualities, initiative, demonstrated ability to learn technically demanding concepts, and representation of personal qualities assessed through behavioral-based interview questions.

Non-U.S. citizen applicants

Admission to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences is open to U.S. workers in the four categories below. Therefore, visa sponsorship is not available.

Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT). Scores from the speaking portion of the exam are given particular consideration in admission decisions. Learn more about the exam and register online at the Educational Testing Service.

The Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences code for the TOEFL iBT is 5784.

Educational transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be translated (if they are not already in English) and evaluated for U.S. equivalence by an accredited credential evaluation service company prior to submission. Please refer to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services for a list of qualified companies. The applicant pays for the examination and credential-evaluation services.

Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. Create an account to begin the online Application for Admission.
    • Select - Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences
    • Select - Heart Rhythm Device Nurse Fellowship
  2. Complete each section of the application and submit.
  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents.
    • Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section
    • Complete the Recommendation Request section

Additional required items

  • CV/resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from someone you’ve worked with in a recent role as a professional registered nurse and at least one should be from a supervisor or manager
  • Personal statement: Please include stories from your experience as a professional registered nurse. (maximum 500 words).

Interview process

The selection committee carefully reviews each application. Individuals considered for an appointment may complete a virtual interview, although an in-person interview is strongly encouraged to meet the faculty and tour the facilities.

Acceptance

Mayo Clinic Human Resources will notify the candidate of the position offer.
