Curriculum

The Nurse-Midwifery fellowship program combines didactic and clinical training over a 12-month period. The fellowship offers two distinct tracks to guide fellows to curriculum experiences directly suited to their past and future career paths.

  • Entry to Practice Track: The Entry-to-Practice cohort is designed for new-graduate midwives, or midwives returning to practice after time away. The goal of this track is to facilitate transition into practice by building on existing midwifery skills, providing additional clinical training, and fostering leadership.
  • Advanced Level Track: The Advanced Level cohort is designed for midwives with at least three years of clinical experience who desire additional skills in high-risk and complex obstetrics. The curriculum is flexible and can be tailored to individual needs and interests.

Schedule and hours

Nurse-Midwifery fellows will be expected to work a standard 40-hour work week (80 hours per pay period). Additional temporary call hours may be required based on birth volumes at some health system sites.
