Why did you pursue a certified nurse midwife fellowship?

I pursued the fellowship for an opportunity that would enable me to enhance and refine my midwifery skills, establish a solid foundation for my practice, develop my leadership abilities, and cultivate my confidence as a newly qualified midwife. I was seeking mentorship and support in my first year of practice.

During your time as a fellow at Mayo Clinic, what did you enjoy or benefit from the most?

My favorite part of the midwifery fellowship at Mayo is the amazing team of midwives who are always willing to answer questions, provide advice, or check in with how things are going.  I've also greatly enjoyed the opportunities for continued education with classes, conferences, and interesting midwife led lectures at my fingertips. Our time outside of work is also enjoyable - everyone can benefit from a nice dinner out with your colleagues.

What advice do you have for midwives pursuing a fellowship program?

In pursuing a fellowship, I believe it's important to have a love for continued learning and self-improvement. The team at Mayo is robust and there are many opportunities to ask questions, gain new insights, and get involved beyond the day-to-day work of being a midwife.
