Meet Our Fellows

Fellows from the Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, come from medical schools around the U.S. and outside the country. Meet one of our fellows and learn about their experience and our program.

Josh Peterson, M.D.

Josh Peterson, M.D.Medical School: University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, MI
Residency: University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX

Background: Dr. Joshua Peterson was raised Idaho and received his MD degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He spent three years training in Integrated Plastic Surgery where he had intended to pursue a career in burn reconstruction. Rediscovering his love for histology and research, he transferred to AP Pathology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. His research interests include slide free imaging of bone, osteomyelitis, and the molecular genetics of sarcomas.

Why did you chose Mayo Clinic for your fellowship? In my opinion, Mayo Clinic offers the greatest breadth and depth of training in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic bone and soft tissue lesions in the world from five world-class - and friendly! diagnosticians who  are leaders and pioneers in sarcoma pathology.  The research opportunities are endless, the program is highly focused on fellow education, and vast libraries of digital slides are available for educational review. Furthermore, advanced molecular testing (NGS, RNA sequencing) and a breadth of emerging BST-relevant immuno-histochemical stains are available in house.
