Department and Faculty

More than 150 physicians make up the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Cardiologists provide the best possible care to patients with disorders of the heart, arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels in a highly integrated and cooperative group practice. Members of the department care for approximately 59,000 patients annually.

Facilities

Supported by many laboratories, subspecialty clinics, preventive health programs, basic and clinical research programs, and continuing education programs, cardiologists offer patients the latest in new diagnostic techniques, drugs, and interventions.

Faculty

The cardiac amyloid clinic is staffed by a rotation of six to eight cardiovascular consultants with expertise in amyloidosis. You will work closely with the program director and core faculty to provide clinical training and research mentorship.

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic’s faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields.

As a fellow, you have direct access to the cardiovascular medicine faculty at Mayo Clinic throughout the Cardiac Amyloid Fellowship.

Advisers and mentors

Fellows are assigned to a dedicated faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. You meet with your adviser periodically throughout the fellowship to review your progress and career goals, and ensure your educational needs are being met.

Advisers also serve as a contact point for introducing fellows and their families to Rochester, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures and participate in hospital rounds.

You are encouraged to take full advantage of these educational opportunities.
