Department and Faculty
The neurosciences team at Mayo Clinic is a highly integrated, collaborative group. It's composed of the Department of Neurology and Department of Neurosurgery. Core training at Mayo Clinic is enhanced by rotations at Nemours Children's Hospital, providing both adult and pediatric experience. Residents work with neurologists who specialize in researching, diagnosing, and treating more than 500 nervous system conditions and diseases.
More than 25 specialists at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, provide care for patients with neurological diseases. They offer both one-time evaluations and continuing care. Specialists collaborate across pediatric and adolescent medicine, speech pathology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, psychology, pain management, sleep disorders, and rehabilitation. This collaboration provides Mayo Clinic patients with a comprehensive plan of care.
The core faculty of the Clinical Neurophysiology Electroencephalography Fellowship has considerable experience in EEG and clinical neurophysiology. They also have extensive experience in epilepsy. The Department of Neurology evaluates and treats patients with complex neurological disorders requiring clinical neurophysiological monitoring. Fellows can also pursue individual clinical and research interests and develop expertise during their training.
Mayo Clinic has a sophisticated electronic medical record system integrated across all campuses and facilities. The system supports both inpatient and outpatient medical interactions. It allows for rapid retrieval of all clinical, laboratory and imaging studies for patients. A department intranet site provides ready access to extensive online resources for neurological education.
The staff has collectively published hundreds of manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and contributed toward many well-known books.
