All fellows may attend one conference of their choice for up to five days and Mayo will cover all lodging, registration, travel, and food up to $2,550. This includes board review courses, such as the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Multiprofessional Critical Care Review course, or more traditional conferences like the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Fellows may also attend up to five additional conferences with $2,550 available for each trip if they present a poster or case or participate in a committee at the conference. Our fellows routinely take advantage of this benefit and often present at the annual conferences of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA). Fellows are also strongly encouraged to present at Mayo’s Mechanical Ventilation Conference and Mayo’s Current Concepts in Extracorporeal Life Support. Both of these later conferences bring in world-class experts into a smaller venue and provide our fellows ample opportunity to work and interact with luminaries in their respective fields. For the price of a few case reports, many fellows attend three to four conferences during their fellowship year.
