We offer numerous electives for you to pursue specific interests. We develop new rotations all the time to meet the needs and goals of our fellows.

Offsite rotations

In addition to myriad offerings in Rochester, many of our fellows rotate through our campuses in Jacksonville, Florida, and Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona. Both are prominent hospitals in their own right and with unique characteristics that provide a different culture and experience from what can be provided in Rochester. These are some of our most popular rotations.

If desired, we work with the fellow on adjusting their required rotations to ensure they experience these away rotations while still meeting their desired fellowship training goals. Approximately half of our fellows elect to do an away rotation every year.

We also partner with the Arizona Burn Center at Valleywise Health in Phoenix, Arizona, where fellows can rotate through their burn ICU — the second busiest in the country — or their trauma ICU.

We also leverage Mayo’s connections to provide opportunities for select fellows to do international rotations. In recent years, our fellows have rotated through Vienna, Paris, Essen, Sydney, Stockholm, London, and Mayo Clinic’s site in Abu Dhabi. We fully support these international rotations, but logistics and finances must be tackled early and thoughtfully for approval.
