The department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, is committed to creating and promoting a diverse and just culture that is academically enriching, equitable, and supportive. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our department has the opportunity to thrive and succeed while providing culturally relevant and exceptional patient care. We will strive to prepare you, our learners and trainees, to be agile, informed, collaborative, and empathic as you train to practice in a diverse and dynamic health care environment.
Wherever you go, it is important to feel a sense of belonging and feel comfortable being yourself, both with your peers and with your supervisors. The Mayo Clinic Rochester Department of Radiology is a diverse group of residents and staff who have come from various backgrounds, which are celebrated.
Several of our faculty and residents in our department are members of the Midwest Belonging Committee. The Belonging committee sends out monthly emails about speciļ¬c topics that pertain to the topic of belonging and medicine.
As a resident, you'll have the opportunity to be a part of:
- Mayo Employee Resource Groups (MERGs)— employee-led affinity groups to promote belonging, increase cultural awareness, and foster an environment of respect and inclusivity. Any Mayo Clinic employee can join a group of interest and choose their level of involvement.
- The OUTList, an internal resource created by the LGBTI MERG that promotes community, visibility, and mentoring among Mayo's faculty, staff, and trainees by identifying mentors within Mayo Clinic interested in being a resource for others. All Mayo employees are welcome to contact individuals on the OUTList for advice and networking.
- The Mayo Clinic Trainee Belonging Committee, a group that recruits and mentors applicants, including those from underrepresented backgrounds in medicine.
- EverybodyIN Conversations, a facilitated virtual series that promotes the opportunity to talk with each other and learn from our differences in a safe space.
