Mayo Clinic surgeons provide surgical expertise to our patients in minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, pituitary surgery, laparoscopic adrenal surgery, and pancreas transplantation.
In addition to caring for patients in clinical practice, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and hold officer positions in national endocrine societies.
The two-year, ACMGE-accredited Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona provides a comprehensive training environment for fellows. As a small program with one fellow each year, you’ll benefit from close mentorship by our faculty throughout your training. Our faculty also work with you to tailor the program to your specific educational needs and career goals.
The structured didactic curriculum is designed to ensure success in clinical practice and to prepare you for subspecialty board certification in endocrinology. At the heart of the program is the opportunity to work within a diverse endocrinology practice at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Rotations in general endocrinology, pediatric endocrinology, transgender care, thyroid ultrasound and thyroid cancer care, bariatric care, and endocrinology hospital consultation service offer a multidisciplinary education for our fellows.
The program also offers numerous elective opportunities, including rotations at Camp AZDA (ADA Diabetes Camp for Children) in Prescott, Arizona; Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; and global health initiatives funded through the Mayo International Health Program. Scholarly activity includes participating in quality improvement projects, submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at intra-mural, regional and national conferences.
Upon successful completion of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship, you will be a highly skilled endocrinologist, well-prepared for the challenges of academia or private practice.

Fellows are expected to choose an area of research interest and a research adviser who can provide mentorship in the selected area of interest.
Each year many distinguished professors visit Mayo Clinic to present their work during lectures, and engage in informal discussions with trainees. Our fellows are encouraged to take full advantage of these valuable educational opportunities.
