Application Process

A trainee from the Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship

Positions

There is one position available on a competitive basis each year in the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. The fellowship position begins on Aug. 1 each year.

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) manages a separate match for female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) programs on behalf of the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) and the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU).

Qualifications

Applicants for the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship must have satisfactorily completed either an:

  • Obstetrics and gynecology or urology residency accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
  • Obstetrics and gynecology or urology program located in Canada and accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) — ACGME FPMRS Requirement III.A.1

How to apply

You must apply through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for Fellowship Applicants.

For the fellowship position starting in 2025, candidates may begin using ERAS for Fellowships beginning Nov. 15, 2023.

The Mayo Clinic Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship is participating in the AUGS "First Round Interview" protocol.

The application deadline for first-round interviews is Jan. 22, 2024.

Complete applications will be reviewed as they are received.

  1. To apply to the program, visit the ERAS for Fellowship Applicants website. All applications must include the ERAS Common Application Form, where you describe your activities with professional societies, publications, and any other relevant information about your education or experience. Any information you would put on your curriculum vitae should be included. See the MyERAS Fellowship User Guide.

    All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs also must include these standard application materials.

    In addition, this fellowship requires that:

    • One of your three letters of recommendation is from your residency program director.
    • You submit Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) examination scores. Send a copy of your exam score reports to the email address below to be added to your ERAS fellowship application locally (not accepted by ERAS for scanning). Include score reports from PGY 1-2 if you are still in residency and PGY 1-4 if you have completed residency training.

  2. Applicants considered for the fellowship position are invited for an interview with the program director and selected faculty.

Visiting resident elective rotations

Trainees currently enrolled in a U.S. OB/GYN or urology residency training program may be eligible to rotate at Mayo Clinic during an elective time.

The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) fellowship, in cooperation with the OB/GYN residency program, may be able to host a four- or five-week visiting resident elective rotation in September, October, November, December, or January.

Visiting residents interact with a variety of urogynecology faculty, nurses, FPMRS fellows, OB/GYN residents, and advance practice providers in both clinical and surgical settings

Visiting resident elective rotation requests must be received by Feb. 1 to be considered for rotations in September-January. Please include in the request:

  • Letter of interest outlining goals of rotation
  • Updated CV
  • USMLE exam scores to date
  • CREOG exam scores to date
