Clinical Training
The level of clinical commitment has been carefully tailored to provide trainees an opportunity to maintain and further develop their clinical skills while providing ample time for course work and scholarly work. Trainees in the Medical Education, Professionalism and Ethics, and Quality Improvement training tracks will have a continuity clinic in ambulatory medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Opportunities for involvement in our inpatient medicine services and for teaching are available.
The Complementary and Integrative training track provides focused clinical training in complementary and integrative medicine. Examples include acupuncture, biofeedback, and evidence-based use of supplements and herbal medicines.
Trainees in the Women's Health training track participate in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary clinical rotations focused on training and clinical practice in the prevention and treatment of diseases prevalent in women through the adult life span. Examples of clinical rotations include breast diseases and breast cancer, medical and surgical gynecology and gynecologic cancers, Women's Heart Clinic, and Women's Health Clinic (with a focus on sexual and menopausal medicine).
Clinical training opportunities beyond the defined curriculum of each training track are widely available as elective rotations in Mayo Clinic's many specialty and subspecialty ambulatory clinics to enhance your training.
