Positions
There is one position available on a competitive basis each year in the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Fellowship.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants for the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Fellowship must have completed a general surgery residency program at an accredited institution.
Highly competitive applicants have one or two years of previous research experience, have a defined track record in terms of previous publications, and fully intend to pursue an academic practice after their fellowship. Applicants are screened specifically for a commitment to an academic career.

How to apply
You must apply through the Fellowship Council. All details about the application process as well as match details and deadlines are managed by the Fellowship Council.
To apply to the program, visit the Fellowship Council website. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials.
This fellowship requires that one of your three required letters of recommendation be from your general surgery residency program director.
Note: Applying to multiple fellowships
You may apply to only one fellowship at Mayo Clinic, but you may apply for the same fellowship at more than one Mayo campus.
For example:
- You may apply to the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship in Jacksonville, Florida.
- You may not apply to the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship and the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Fellowship at any one Mayo campus.
