How to apply
- Application Submission
- All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for fellowship applicants. To begin your application, please visit the ERAS website. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials.
- The completed application and all supporting documents must be submitted by July 31 of the year prior to the program start date. The academic year begins July 1. In addition to applying through ERAS, applications must also register for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) through the Medical Specialties Matching Program.
- We require a minimum of three letters of recommendation. One must come from the applicant's current or most recent program director (if within five years of training) or their current department chair. In addition, we strongly encourage applicants to include a letter from a hospice or palliative care clinician or interdisciplinary team member, as this offers valuable insight into the applicant's fit for the field.
- Applicants to Hospice and Palliative Medicine will have the opportunity to designate five program signals through ERAS. We encourage applicants who are especially interested in our program to signal us. However, we also carefully review and consider applications from applicants who do not submit a signal to our program.
- Interviews
- Applicants selected for further consideration will be invited for a virtual interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews typically occur between August and October.
