In these seven months, there was not one day that I did not learn something new from a patient or case. The variety of the population and patient complexity is great. Also, life in Phoenix is nice and there are plenty of outdoor activities to do.

I chose to come to Mayo Clinic in Arizona due to the breadth of pathology we get exposure to, from the bread-and-butter ID to the most complex immunocompromised hosts. So far, I know that I am receiving excellent training and will be comfortably managing infections from the simplest to the most complex cases.

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and work in a great teaching institute like Mayo Clinic without having to move away from home! The complexity and diversity of patients here offer endless knowledge exposure and unique opportunities to learn new information every day. The ID department staff is like family; I felt loved on my birthday!

I chose to pursue the Infectious Disease fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Arizona due to the well-regarded reputation of the institution and the wide array of pathologies in its patient demographics. However, over the last few months. even this expansive reputation has been surpassed in my experience. I’ve been able to partake in the care of complex patients with uncommon and unusual presentations, with simultaneous exposure to classic, standard cases within the field of infectious disease. Moreover, all the while, I have experienced great support from the entirety of the faculty, and my co-fellows.

Current position: The Infectious Diseases Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, well prepared me for starting my own private practice here in the valley. The curriculum during fellowship provided the necessary tools and resources I needed to feel comfortable and confident in treating patients on my own. The attendings were approachable and invested in my success, both in fellowship and after its completion. The two years flew by in the blink of an eye!
