Mayo Clinic boasts a wonderful group of diagnostic physicists and provides an unparalleled residency experience in all aspects of clinical diagnostic imaging physics, including exposure to cutting-edge systems such as the 7T MRI, photon-counting CT, and hybrid interventional suite. In addition to the clinical work, I was able to publish 3 manuscripts and over 10 abstracts during the two-year residency, which prepared me well for my current clinical/academic position. During my second year, I had the opportunity to spend 2 months at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville where I learned from another great group of physicists that function differently than the main site. Overall, Mayo Clinic is an exemplary program with outstanding faculty, and I highly recommend it to prospective applicants who want a clinical residency with a strong research component.

I had been very fortunate working at the Mayo Clinic for five years and particularly spending two years as a resident in the renowned Diagnostic Medical Physics Residency Program. In this program, I received high-quality training by participating in innovative medical treatments and compassionate patient care, cutting-edge research, and excellent education. I also had the chance to work with the best medical physicists in the field and the opportunities for my professional growth. I won’t have my current position and achievements without the unforgettable training experiences at Mayo.

My experience during my clinical medical physics residency was nothing short of amazing. The program gave me the opportunity to drive the direction of my residency based on my interests but provided the structure and resources needed to meet the program requirements. I also appreciated the primary rotations which allowed me to focus on doing research in addition to the clinical duties. I am thankful to have been a part of this residency program. My experience and the mentorship throughout residency have helped me tremendously in the work that I do leading the Diagnostic Physics department at my current institution.

The residency program at Mayo Clinic provides comprehensive training on different modalities and areas of diagnostic imaging physics, allowing trainees to gain confidence and independence even in the most sophisticated clinical practice. Besides routine clinical trainings, I also appreciate very much the opportunities to be involved in various innovative clinical and research projects during the residency, which are great opportunities to gain deeper understanding of imaging physics, develop critical thinking and advanced problem-solving capability, and to build a strong academic background. I am very grateful for my training at Mayo.
