Four nephrology fellows pose together.

Our fellows come from medical schools around the U.S. and outside the country. See what a few of them have to say about our program.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? I chose Mayo Clinic for my fellowship training because I knew the environment was centered on the patient, and their approach to medical care was in line with my clinical approach to practice. I knew that I wanted to be exposed to a wide variety of pathology to prepare myself for independent practice. As a quaternary center, we as trainees see a myriad of disease states that most can only read about in the literature. The other selling point for me was the department faculty, here at Mayo Clinic we have the privilege to learn from giants in the field of nephrology. With that being said, all of these attributes tied into the beautiful Florida landscape made Mayo Clinic the ideal place for me to continue my medical education.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? I was attracted to Mayo Clinic for the perceived educational and learning opportunity to receive here being surrounded by the best attending educators as well as resources and facilities that are second to none.  Simply put, I wanted it to be at the best of the best and Mayo Clinic is considered one of the best hospitals in the nation.  Also, Jacksonville was an attractive city to move to as well for this training.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? Aside from the palm trees and beaches, Mayo was my first choice because of its reputation for leading the way in medicine. I wanted a place that focuses on education and innovation, precisely what I have experienced thus far. Here at Mayo, we are exposed to all aspects of nephrology and mentored by engaging nephrologists who love the field. The work environment is unmatched; our patients come first, and a phenomenal staff supports us. I have felt welcomed and challenged. Everyone in the nephrology department will help you grow individually and professionally, so it's always a good day at Mayo.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? Mayo Clinic has provided me with the opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts in nephrology in an environment that fosters curiosity, research, and innovation. The fellowship program itself is designed to be flexible and can be customized to meet individual career goals. I was particularly drawn to Mayo Clinic due to the high complexity of renal pathology we are exposed to during training, in addition to the focus on patient-centered care. The faculty at Mayo Clinic are dedicated to providing the best possible training to their fellows. They understand that fellowship is an exciting time of personal and professional growth and are eager to provide mentorship.
