From the program director
Warmest welcome to our Nephrology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. As the program director, I'm looking forward to being part of your journey to becoming an amazing, compassionate nephrologist.
Our program offers unique training opportunities in a supportive, collegial learning environment.
The program is three years in length and includes one year of research in your second year. Training in our subspecialty clinics includes hypertension, glomerulonephritis, home dialysis, dialysis medical directorship, polycystic kidney disease, kidney stones, onco-nephrology, renal transplant, and more. We offer robust training in palliative care, renal pathology, renal physiology, renal biopsy, and point of care ultrasound.
During your second year of fellowship, advanced training opportunities in glomerulonephritis, OB Neph, home dialysis, and nephrolithiasis are available. As a tertiary care center, we also offer extensive training in ICU and Consult Service Nephrology allowing you to gain deeper knowledge in the care for hospitalized patients on CRRT, inpatient hemodialysis, acid base/electrolyte disturbances, and more. In short, our program offers the opportunity to customize your educational experience to align with your career goals.
During your three years of fellowship, we will help you build skills and expertise in point-of-care ultrasound, clinical research, and medical education. You will participate as an instructor in our Renal Block for Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine students. This is all possible due to our robust mentoring program and highly committed attending nephrologists.
In conclusion, I invite you to apply to our fellowship to learn more. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions related to our program.
Kind Regards,
Iasmina Craici, M.D.
