Department and Faculty

Mayo Clinic in Arizona is an academic, integrated, multi-specialty group practice with campuses in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix has 368 licensed beds, 33 operating rooms, and an emergency department.

The Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is a highly integrated, collaborative department of neurologists who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of conditions and diseases affecting the nervous system. Close collaboration with specialists in other Mayo Clinic departments and divisions offers Mayo Clinic patients comprehensive care based on the traditional Mayo Clinic Model of Care.

The Department of Neurology has a number of specialty clinics comprised of professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by these diseases. Neurology physicians are also engaged in research projects involving their areas of interest, including new and investigational drugs.

The Mayo Clinic Hospital, located on the Phoenix campus, is designated as a Primary Stroke Center. It is affiliated with the American Stroke Association and Arizona Emergency Medical Systems Phoenix Metropolitan Matrix of Primary Stroke Centers.

Marie Grill, M.D.On behalf of the Division of Hospital Neurology and our multi-specialty acute care team here at Mayo Clinic Arizona, I extend a warm welcome to you. We are enthusiastic about sharing a positive learning environment that fosters inclusivity, mutual respect, and collaboration. Our Mayo value-based culture endeavors always to put the needs of the patient first, and with that mission in mind, commitment to excellence in clinical care is paramount.

The Neurohospitalist fellowship program will provide you with the essential tools to evolve into a skilled and well-rounded clinician in this rapidly growing field.  At Mayo Clinic you will be able to work in specialized multi-disciplinary teams to develop expertise in the evaluation and management of a wide breadth of inpatient neurologic conditions, inclusive of complex, high acuity cases.

We have exciting opportunities to gain in-depth experience in research and educational aspects of academic neurohospitalist medicine also, and strive to deliver innovative, transformative, increasingly personalized patient care. Our fellowship program also affords the ability to customize the year by selecting from a variety of specialty elective options for optimal individualization.

The Division of Hospital Neurology is comprised of neurohospitalists with additional areas of subspecialty interest/expertise who collaborate closely with members of the Cerebrovascular division, as well as with other hospital-based team members including specialists in:

  • Critical Care Medicine
  • Neurosurgery emergency medicine
  • Hospital internal medicine
  • Neuroradiology
  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Epilepsy
  • Transplant and Hematology and Oncology (including heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, lung and blood and bone marrow transplant services)
