Department and Faculty

The Onco-Nephrology Advanced Nephrology Fellowship provides outstanding onco-nephrology training in all aspects of clinical practice, research, and education. Opportunities in these three areas enable the curriculum to be individually designed to meet the specific goals of future investigative or clinical nephrologists.

Your training program can be customized to meet your individual career goals. The program offers flexibility for you within the clinical and research tracks. You will work closely with a highly experienced and knowledgeable clinical and research faculty. Advanced training tracks in critical care medicine, hypertension, and transplantation are available and, if offered, lead to certification.

Throughout the year, you work closely with consultants in:

Mayo Clinic's favorable faculty ratio, large patient population, and state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic, and research facilities combine to create a truly integrated educational experience. The "Mayo Clinic way" of graduate medical education ensures you will have the finest teaching and the broadest patient care experience possible during a busy, hands-on fellowship.

Faculty

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields.

You have direct access to the nephrology and hypertension faculty and oncology faculty at Mayo Clinic throughout your training in the Onco-Nephrology Advanced Nephrology Fellowship.

Advisers and mentors

You are assigned a dedicated faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Trainees meet with their advisers periodically throughout the program to review their progress and career goals, and ensure that their educational needs are being met. Your adviser also serves as a contact point for introducing you and your family to Rochester, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures, participate in hospital rounds, and have informal discussions with trainees. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these educational opportunities.
