What attracted you to Mayo Clinic?

The reason for Mayo Clinic’s reputation as a world-renowned institution was evident from the first time I visited Mayo Clinic. The emphasis on patient care and the hope provided to patients is unparalleled. Patients come from all over the world with complex pathology, which provides great learning opportunities. All the staff you  encounter are devoted to prioritizing patient care and education. It has been a great place to train as both a medical student and resident.

What is something you love most about this program?

The ophthalmology residency program at Mayo Clinic provides an ideal balance of academic, clinical, and surgical opportunities with graduated autonomy each year of training. Residents are able to manage complex ophthalmic pathology with the support of a large faculty of subspecialty-trained ophthalmologists. My experiences caring for patients as a resident at Mayo Clinic have taught me more than I could have ever imagined and prepared me for success in the next phase of my career.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic?

Our patients come from all over the world to place their trust in Mayo and its outstanding reputation, gifting us with the privilege of caring for a unique and diverse population. It’s a very special and comforting feeling knowing that, under one roof, Mayo has world renowned experts in every specialty to help in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The collegial environment truly nurtures Mayo’s most coveted value: “the needs of the patient come first.” I am honored to be training at an institution that continually sets the gold standard in caring for patients.

What is something you love most about this program?

The sense of camaraderie among my peers as well as among the faculty at Mayo Clinic is truly unlike that which I’ve seen at any other institution. It’s humbling to be surrounded by such a stellar group of fellow trainees who will always support me and help me reach my full potential. Moreover, I’m privileged to have close mentorship with brilliant consultants who inspire and empower me on a daily basis. I’m constantly impressed by our faculty’s commitment to patient care and resident education, and am excited and determined to follow in their footsteps.
