In addition, we regularly welcome visiting professors and lecturers, both national and international.
Didactic resources
The residency program provides many resources as part of the didactic curriculum. This includes a subscription to SCORE for OMS, textbooks, cadaver lab and simulator access, and mock boards exams. Upon matching to the training program, we provide you with suture practice kits and textbooks to develop your knowledge and skills as you transition to residency.
Teaching and leadership opportunities
Opportunities are available for you to teach rotating residents and medical students as well as lecture/moderate some of the morning conferences. Residents participate in training program review and improvement through the Program Education Committee. Many residents have served with ROAAOMS as well as resident representatives through other related professional organizations.
Mayo Clinic offers unparalleled resources that significantly enhance the residency experience. These resources enable residents to focus deeply on education, patient care, and personal growth. Whether working in the procedural clinic, consult clinic, or operating room, the robust support system—including advanced practice providers and administrative assistants—ensures that our time at work is both productive and impactful.

Resident
Mayo Clinic is renowned for its medical excellence as well as patient care. The history and culture are a special part of the Mayo Experience. Regarding my choice to join the Mayo Clinic OMS team, there were a plethora of reasons why it stood at the top of my list. When I was an extern, they treated me like a colleague. Each of the consultants shook my hand and introduced themselves by their first name with a smile. I’ve since found that high level of respect prevalent throughout Mayo Clinic.
