Microsurgical skills lab
Mayo Clinic’s Microvascular Surgery Skills Training Course is a five-day program focused on developing skills in microvascular surgical techniques on a rodent model. All residents take this course in their third year and will learn the skills necessary for hand-sewn, end-to-end arterial and venous anastomoses. After completing the course, you have access to this facility and can practice microvascular anastomosis at any time during your training.
Cadaver lab
The Mayo Procedural Skills Mastery Lab houses a state-of-the-art cadaver lab and simulation resource at St. Mary’s Hospital. The downtown campus also features a large cadaver lab for additional training for small or large groups. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) trainees have access to these labs to learn from each other and faculty during individual and group training sessions focused on improving their knowledge of surgical anatomy and procedures.
TMJ arthroscopy simulator
OMS trainees can access a simulator specifically for TMJ arthroscopy to help learn camera management and navigation, puncture techniques, and other aspects of this procedure. You will also have opportunities to use the simulation center during your medical school training.
