What are your favorite things to do in Rochester? We're a family of three (me, my husband, and our 2-year-old son). We love outdoor activities like picnics at Whitewater State Park and Quarry Hill Nature Park. Our favorite ice cream spot is Flapdoodles. I love taking my son to Spark, a children’s museum and play area.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? I did my pediatric residency at Mayo Clinic and had an excellent experience. As I started my fellowship, the faculty was fully invested in our training and education. The other thing was the resources that Mayo has to offer in education and research. The program provides an opportunity to select electives and form an individualized pathway for the fellowship.

Class of 2025
Medical school: Trinity College - University of Dublin
Residency: New York Presbyterian - Brooklyn

What are your favorite things to do in Rochester? Coming from living in New York City for residency, Rochester has been a great experience for myself, my wife, and my 4-month-old daughter. We’ve enjoyed exploring Rochester’s trails and outdoor activities (definitely recommend the Zollman Zoo!) as well as trying all the local restaurants Rochester has to offer!

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic fellowship training? Mayo Clinic’s world-renowned reputation for exemplary clinical care and medical education made the decision an easy one. It was reinforced after my interview day – after meeting the faculty I knew the department would provide the best opportunity to support my future endeavors as a pediatric hospitalist.

Medical school:
University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL
Residency: Mayo Clinic Pediatric Residency Program, Rochester, MN

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training? I did my residency in pediatrics at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and had great experiences with the program faculty. I continued my learning here as a Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellow because of these interactions and the resources available through Mayo for research. I was constantly surprised by how quickly we could schedule testing, sedation, and therapy, and came together with other specialties for patient care.

Dr. Authement went on to practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
